Tri (Try) and Apply
Let’s hear it for the fifth week of tri and apply. This episode is all about applying Tricorn Black. My entryway is moving along. I have to keep it clean and clear because of the daily use. But, please tell me I am not alone when here. I can’t believe how many weeks passed already in this challenge. You would think all the rainy days we are having here in Texas, I would be ahead. Oh no. That is not the case.
In the beginning, I was going to tackle painting the entryway door myself. But you know, I was not up for it. There are professionals out there. My painter was able to fit me in and get the job done. Can you say grateful? We all know, our wonderful tradesmen are busy. Client projects take priority. If I had to take on the painting of my door, I would have done it.

Did you catch the arches?
Excessively Black
Additionally, I made the decision to paint the door molding black. Yeah, my painter was long gone for that decision a day later. I played the starring game. The feeling that something was missing. The vision I have called the trim transformation. I will replace the current handles with a Schlage matte black lever. Oh yea, excessively black. It is such a mood. Grab Sherwin-Williams Tricorn Black and apply it when you are looking for rich black paint.

The final weeks are creeping up. I still have some final decisions to make. A fellow guest participant suggested I use Watco Danish Oil. So another trip to Loews was scheduled to pick up a can. The directions say an easy wipe-on. Looking forward to tri (try) and applying this oil to stain, seal, and protect. So, we will see once I dive into the task of staining my entry table or slats for the wall. Along with deliveries arriving this week. Seeing the light fixtures is going to be the next highlight. I am expecting them to arrive soon. Seeing the fixtures with the wallpaper is what I am waiting on.

After a couple of major pivots during the first two weeks, being at this point is icing on the cake. That satisfying moment to see everything come together. Naturally, I have a slight feeling of being behind schedule. This is due to a slow start on items arriving or not available to order. Having said that, I am confident the project will end on schedule. The one-room challenge is a self-challenge. Take a look at week 5 from my first one-room challenge here. I am grateful the space is small. The impact of this entryway is such a mood. We will tri (try) and apply from the fifth week to completion!
